Pulitzer Prize winning author Mackinlay Kantor wrote the novel "Wicked Water" in the late 1940s. This novel is almost a narrative of the Horn saga, with the exception of key name chnges, for instance Horn in the novel becomes the character "Bus Crow."

The novel was turned into one of the first 3D movies, starring MacDonald Carey and Joanne Dru. The title of the movie was "Hannah Lee" and later changed to "Outlaw Territory."

I've often wondered why Kantor changed the names of his characters for his novel. Could their still have been pressure put on his publisher that long after the facts?

Also in the movie version of the Kantor novel, the ending is changed from hanging Horn (Crow) to a duel with the brave Marshal. Guess a hanging would have been anti-climatic for Hollywood, huh?
