I see that range detective Ed Cantrell has died. His personality seemed a bit like that of Tom Horn. Is there a "type" of person who makes a good range detective and is it a magnet for trouble?

Good question!

In many cases, yes, a certain coolness was needed, especially in the times that Tom Horn and others roamed the early West.

There is a fascinating analysis of that kind of personality in my new book.

Thanks for inquiring.
